Stingray City in Grand Cayman is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Caribbean. It is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves marine life or wants to experience something truly unique. In this blog, we’ll explore what makes Stingray City so special and why it’s a must-visit destination.

What is Stingray City?
Stingray City is a shallow sandbar located in the North Sound of Grand Cayman. It is home to dozens of southern stingrays that have become accustomed to interacting with humans. These gentle creatures are docile and friendly, making it possible for visitors to swim and interact with them in their natural habitat.

What to Expect at Stingray City
Visitors to Stingray City can expect to have an unforgettable experience. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by experienced guides who will provide you with safety instructions and snorkeling gear. From there, you’ll board a boat and head out to the sandbar, which is located about 20 minutes from shore.

Once you arrive at Stingray City, you’ll be amazed by the sight of dozens of stingrays swimming around you. The water is crystal clear, and the stingrays are friendly and curious. The guides will help you interact with the stingrays, showing you how to feed them and how to hold them for a photo opportunity.

One of the most memorable experiences at Stingray City is when the guides feed the stingrays. The stingrays swim right up to the surface, and visitors can hand-feed them small pieces of squid. It’s an incredible feeling to have these gentle creatures eat right out of your hand.

How to Visit
There are a number of local operators that offer trips to Sting Ray City, but our recommendation is to use Red Sail (Link to Red Sail Blog) at the concierge desk at the Westin. They offer a free shuttle service that will pick you up from the lobby and return you to the hotel at the end of the day. And their catamarans rare among the nicer boats available for the outing.
We had a blast during our scouting visit back in April.
