What to Wear in Snowbird (and dress code for events)

When packing for a trip to Utah in September, it’s important to pack for the mountain climate. Here are some items that you should consider packing:

  • Lightweight, moisture-wicking base layers
  • Warm insulating layers (fleece or down jackets)
  • Wind-resistant and waterproof outer layers
  • Comfortable hiking shoes or boots
  • Warm hats, gloves, and scarves for chilly mornings and evenings
  • Sunscreen with high SPF and lip balm with SPF
  • Sunglasses with UV protection
  • A wide-brimmed hat or cap
  • A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated

Once you’ve got the basics covered, you’ll be planning for our specific events. We recently released our agenda (link to agenda) so you can get a sense of the flow of the event. Overall, the vibe is casual, so for breakfasts and our Friday morning Champions Chat, the most important thing is comfort. Because the mornings and evenings can be cool, midday can be into the upper 70s, and a breeze is common, we recommend dressing in light layers so you can adjust throughout the day as needed.

For dinners, you’ll want to clean up a little bit more, and since our business session will be immediately before Awards Night, you should plan to get ready beforehand. Below is some additional information about each night’s dinner and some example photos to help you plan.

Wednesday Welcome Dinner

Keep it casual. Our welcome dinner comes after a day of traveling for most of our guests, and our goal is to have a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere for everyone to meet and greet each other for the first time. Our event will be mostly indoors, but we will have access to an outdoor patio with great mountain views as the sunsets. The temperatures will drop as the sun goes down, so long pants and a light jacket will help you stay comfortable outside.

Our Welcome Night theme this year will be “Happy 40th Birthday, SHC!” so there are no special outfit suggestions (unless you really want to come as a birthday clown…)

Thursday Awards Night

Awards Night used to be our formal night for the event, but we won’t be asking anyone on stage and group photos aren’t required. That said, we will have trophies available if you and your team would like to take an “official” photo together, so you’ll want to plan for your outfit to potentially be memorialized on film.

Awards Night is an indoor dinner with a presentation celebrating our winners. Recommended attire is cocktail casual, which may include a button-down shirt or polo, casual cocktail dresses, etc.

We’ll be inside and mostly sitting for both Awards Dinner and our after dinner cocktail party, so if you wanted to wear heels, this is the night. We’ll ask our winners to stand at their table and be recognized, but we won’t be dancing or standing a lot. Think of this as picture night. No ties, coats, or gowns required, but also no t-shirts.

Dos: sundresses, long pants, collared golf shirt, button down, cocktail dress
Don’ts: shorts, flip flops, jeans with holes, t-shirts

Below are guests from previous years modeling some appropriate style options.

Friday Oktoberfest

The last night of our event is when we let our hair down and have some fun. This year, we’re wrapping up with Supplemental’s very own Oktoberfest.

The dress code is workplace-appropriate free-for-all. Keep in mind that we’ll be outside under our own Oktoberfest tent, so plan to stay warm. This is also our big dancing night, so comfortable shoes area  good ideas.

If anyone happens to have lederhosen that they plan to wear, feel free to drop us a note. We may need you to lead us in some polka!

We hope that this guide helps you plan your attire for Champions Circle 2024 in Snowbird. Also make sure you’ve got comfortable shoes for your sightseeing, a light coat for the cool and wind, and necessary hats/sunscreen/sunglasses for the sunshine you’ll be enjoying.
